mixing spoon or whisk
- ¼ cup butter, melted
- ¼ cup maple syrup
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 2 cups rolled oats
- 1 tbsp cinnamon
- ¼ tsp salt
Preheat oven to 300℉In a mixing bowl, add melted butter, syrup, and vanilla. Stir together. Add in the oats, cinnamon, and salt. Stir until the mixture is completely coated with the wet ingredients.
On a sheet pan lined with parchment paper, spread the granola in an even layer. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown. Careful not to over bake because the sugar can easily burn.
Cool on the sheet pan COMPLETELY, then break into chunks.
Store in an airtight glass container in the pantry for 1-2 weeks.
Rolled or quick oats both work in this recipe.
I HAVE NOT tested it with steel cut oats.
I like cinnamon so I add quite a bit, but you can adjust to your taste.
I have tested this recipe with honey instead of maple, but the honey does not give me the crispy texture that I like.
I have also tested this recipe with coconut oil, but I like the nutty flavor of the butter.
