Equipment

  • mixing bowl
  • measuring cups
  • sheet pan
  • mixing spoon or whisk

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup butter, melted
  • ¼ cup maple syrup
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 cups rolled oats
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp salt

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 300℉
In a mixing bowl, add melted butter, syrup, and vanilla. Stir together.
  • Add in the oats, cinnamon, and salt. Stir until the mixture is completely coated with the wet ingredients.
  • On a sheet pan lined with parchment paper, spread the granola in an even layer. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown. Careful not to over bake because the sugar can easily burn.
  • Cool on the sheet pan COMPLETELY, then break into chunks.
  • Store in an airtight glass container in the pantry for 1-2 weeks.

Notes

Rolled or quick oats both work in this recipe.
I HAVE NOT tested it with steel cut oats.
I like cinnamon so I add quite a bit, but you can adjust to your taste.
I have tested this recipe with honey instead of maple, but the honey does not give me the crispy texture that I like.
I have also tested this recipe with coconut oil, but I like the nutty flavor of the butter.
